Common Faults & Maintenance

CMOS Battery Leaks

The Varta NiMH CMOS battery in the C640 is highly prone to leaking and should be removed from every single C640 if original. The battery is under the keyboard. Unlike the C610, it isn't directly over the motherboard, but a leak will still cause corrosion around the battery connector.

Lid Latch Failure

The LCD lid latch mechanism on the C640 wears out easily and often stops working.
