The Precision M40 is a mobile workstation laptop released by Dell in 2001. It was the first Precision laptop. The M40 was essentially just a souped-up Latitude C810.

CMOS Battery Leaks

The Varta NiMH CMOS battery in the M40 is extremely prone to leaking and should be removed from every unit. It is located under the palmrest, and while not close to the motherboard, it will corrode the ribbon cable for the trackpad if it leaks.
