Chicony NB9800

The Chicony NB9800 is seemingly identical to the Nan Tan 8200. This is confusing as the 8200 is another generic/ODM laptop that was definitely manufactured by Nan Tan (specifically their Kapok division). Chicony likewise was an ODM manufacturer who manufactured 100% of their laptops themselves, which is why this one is confusing. The NB9800 was referenced on their website, with the photo you see to the right attached. They also had a record filed with the FCC for an NB9800 in 1993, the year the Nan Tan 8200 released. I have also seen an 8200 on eBay with the model number "NB9800A" on the bottom label, but it retained the Nan Tan FCC ID (FMA8200) rather then the "E8HNB9800" I'd expect to see on the Chicony version. I've also seen photos of another such example that was actually branded as a Chicony, still with the Nan Tan FCC ID. There was clearly some sort of partnership between the two companies, but I don't yet know what that was.
