Welcome to the MacDat Laptop Portal.

Specifications, photos, drivers, documentation, and other technical information about vintage laptops is rapidly disappearing from the internet. MacDat's Laptop Portal aims to combat this, and eventually create a complete database of every laptop released from the late 1980s up through the mid 2000s, particularly those from obscure and ODM brands.

Important Terminology

Here's a couple of terms that are frequently used throughout the Laptop Portal that are helpful to know.

Original Design Manufacturer (ODM) - A manufacturer of anything (in this case laptops) that primarily sells their products to other companies which will sell the products under their own brand name. Most smaller laptop brands in the 1990s were selling generic designs from an ODM rather than manufacturing in-house.
Reseller/Vendor - This is what I call a company that sold generic ODM laptops rather than their own.
