The WinBook XL2 is a Pentium II-based laptop, released in October 1998. The XL2 is notable for being one of the only laptops to ship standard with an LS-120 drive!
The XL2 is a rebadged Twinhead Slimnote GX (aka the P98T, P98TD, or P98TC depending on revision).

The XL2 hinges are prone to failure. It's not just brittle plastic on these, although I'm sure that plays a factor - from what I've read on some posts from the long-dead WinBook support forum, the hinges themselves on some XL2 batches had a defect that would cause them to seize and snap the plastic. If you own one of these, I'd recommend reinforcing the hinge mounts.
