LAS VEGAS, Nevada--November 19, 1997--WinBook Corporation, which ranked eighth in U.S. notebook computer shipments during the second quarter, today won "Value Notebook of the Year" award from PC Portables Magazine for its WinBook XP5 Pro series. The XP5 Pro features the 150 MHz Intel®Pentium®processor with MMX Technology, 16MB EDO RAM, 8X CD-ROM, 40 Wh Lithium ion battery and 12.1" dual-scan display for only $1,599.

System Specifications
The combination of the Intel®Pentium®150MHz processor with MMX Technology, 256k L2 Cache, and Lithium Ion battery provides the WinBook XP5 Pro with superior performance at an extraordinarily low price. The WinBook XP5 Pro comes standard with a 40 Wh Lithium Ion battery, and can accommodate an optional second Lithium Ion battery in the modular bay for exceptional battery life in a value-priced notebook.
The $1,599 WinBook XP5 Pro comes standard with a 12.1" SVGA DSTN display. The XP5 Pro includes one PCMCIA Type III or two Type II slots. Other features include 16-bit stereo sound, stereo speakers, line-in, line-out, and speaker jacks.
The modular design of the WinBook XP5 Pro provides the ability to interchange the 1.44MB floppy drive, 8X CD-ROM, or optional Lithium-ion battery. The options bay provides the customer with the ability to configure the WinBook specifically for the task at hand.
WinBook Corporation designed the WinBook XP5 Pro for exceptional typing comfort. The keyboard has 19 mm. key spacing and 3mm of key travel for the ultimate in typing comfort. The customer can select either the standard pointing stick or the optional $79.99 touchpad. When the two pointing devices are installed, both will work simultaneously – a feature WinBook pioneered way back in 1994.
