WINBOOK XP5 Pro P150 MMX: Value-Priced Multimedia

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- August 4, 1997 -- WinBook Corporation began shipping its WinBook XP5 Pro P150 MMX series today. The XP5 Pro features the Intel®Pentium®processor with MMX technology running at 150MHz, 16MB of EDO RAM, 256K Syncburst cache, 12.1" dual-scan screen and 8X CD-ROM for only $1,999. A brilliant 11.3-inch active matrix screen, 33.6 PC card modem, and 32MB RAM are also included for $2,599.

System Specifications

The combination of the Intel®Pentium®150MHz processor with MMX technology running at 150MHz, 256k L2 Cache, and Lithium Ion batteries provides the WinBook XP5 Pro P150 MMX with superior performance. The WinBook XP5 Pro P150 MMX utilizes the low power consumption 2.5 volt processor, which allows for longer battery life by reducing the power required by the processor. The WinBook XP5 Pro P150 MMX comes standard with an 8-cell,

40 watt-hour Lithium Ion battery, and can accommodate an optional second Lithium Ion battery in the modular bay for exceptional battery life in a value-priced notebook.

The WinBook XP5 Pro P150 MMX is available with either a 12.1" SVGA Dual Scan Display or an 11.3" SVGA Active Matrix Display. The removable hard drives are user-upgradeable. The XP5 Pro P150 MMX includes one PCMCIA Type III or two Type II slots, with a PCI PCMCIA controller. Other features include a 28.8 PCMCIA Fax/Modem (standard on TFT models), 16-bit stereo sound, stereo speakers, line in, line out, and speaker jacks.

The modular design of the WinBook XP5 Pro P150 MMX provides the ability to interchange the floppy drive, 8X CD-ROM, or optional second Lithium-ion battery. The options bay provides the customer with the ability to configure the WinBook specifically for the task at hand.

WinBook Corporation designed the new WinBook XP5 Pro P150 MMX for exceptional typing comfort. The keyboard has 19-mm key spacing and 3mm of key travel for the ultimate in typing comfort. The customer can select either the standard pointing stick or the optional $79.99 touchpad. When the two pointing devices are installed, both will work simultaneously - only WinBook offers this feature.
