ECS Green320

ECS Green320 - Home

The ECS Green320 (also known as the G320) is a VIA C3-based laptop, released in 2003. It was sold by Frys' Electronics' "Great Quality" brand as the GQ MX-3201/3202/3203. It was also sold as the Patriot 2000. The Green320 shares a newer version of the Green720 and Green799's case design, which are both Pentium III laptops from the Alpha-Top era. Like those earlier laptops, the Green320's rear LCD housing does appear to be made of aluminum, not plastic, which should reduce hinge failures. It also remained a 3-spindle laptop, so it has a CD-ROM and Floppy Drive built-in - HOWEVER, the floppy drive was optional, so some won't have it.

There's a photo of this laptop's motherboard online, and it actually had some visibly bulging/leaking capacitors on it - that's the through-hole electrolytic type caps - so this one is affected by the capacitor plague of the early-mid 2000s, and may need to be recapped should you own one. It's certainly something to check if you have one of these that won't boot.
