Common Faults & Maintenance

Brittle Plastic

The plastic parts of the CS are extremely brittle and must be handled with extreme care. Luckily, the rear display housing is made of magnesium so hinge failures are rare.

CMOS Battery Leaks

The Varta CMOS battery in the Latitude CS leaks nearly 100% of the time and will damage both the keyboard and the motherboard if left to rot. It must be removed.
