CTX EzBook 500 Series - Home

The CTX EzBook 500 Series, introduced in 1995, were a series of 486 and 5x86-based laptops. Just like the earlier 300/400 Series, CTX had no consistent model name for these models, so I've just had to pick the one I thought made the most sense and use it. They were often referred to just as "CTX EzBook" with no model number, one print ad from CTX calls a model in the series the "390T", and another 3rd party add calls it the 200D. Later print ads called them the 5x86 Series and only shipped with those processors, but they did ship with 486 DX4 processors originally. On CTX's driver pages from the early 2000s, they call them the 500 Series, so I'm going to go with that.

One important note - it is very possible that these models shouldn't even count as a separate series, and should just be grouped with the 300/400 Series. I may yet do that in the future. I have a suspicion that the 500 Series laptops with 486 processors are literally just a DX4-100 400 Series with a trackpad on it. That may be the only difference, but I don't know, since I don't have good info on either. You may see this page combined in the future.
