The 1/2AA Lithium barrel battery used for keeping track of PRAM settings on the logic board is prone to leaking. Several brands were used, but all will leak with age. These leaks can be absolutely catestrophic, with extremely severe corrosion being common. In most of these cases, the board is unrecoverable. So, remove those batteries!
The Q900 may not have any electrolytic caps on the logic board, but the same doesn't hold true on the Power Supply. If you have a dead Q900 PSU, give it a recap and see if it comes back to life.
