Macintosh Quadra 610 Issues

PRAM Battery leaks

The 1/2AA Lithium barrel battery used for keeping track of PRAM settings on the logic board is prone to leaking. Several brands were used, but all will leak with age. These leaks can be absolutely catastrophic, with extremely severe corrosion being common. In most of these cases, the board is unrecoverable. So, remove those batteries!

Leaky Caps

The Quadra 610 uses surface-mount electrolytic capacitors on the logic board, and these always leak. Reference information on capacitor replacement is accessible through the resources page.

Power Supply Failure

All old power supplies can be unreliable nowadays, and this one is no exception. Usually it is bad caps, but other things can go wrong too.
