The iMac G4 is a very reliable computer overall. Hardware issues are rare. The only real problem that these commonly experience are issues with the display hinge. Sometimes they can become loose due to age and wear. Overall though, this computer is very reliable.

Other issues that are common across all computers from this time include failing hard drives, dead PRAM batteries, and dust/dirt causing issues, especially with such a complex screen hinge.

WARNING: This model of Macintosh uses the 3.6v half-AA lithium batteries for PRAM backup that are known to leak, and even explode in computers as recent at 1998.
