The G3 "Snow" iBooks replaced the Clamshells in May 2001. They had a much more "normal" design, came in two main variants (12 and 14 inch screens), and were still built like absolute tanks. They started out with 500MHz processors, and reached speeds of up to 900MHz throughout their life.
