Common Faults & Maintenance

PRAM Battery Leaks

The Lithium PRAM battery in the SE/30 is very prone to leaking and should be removed.

Capacitors

The SE/30's logic board uses electrolytic capacitors that always fail and leak. You must replace them for reliable operation. If your SE/30 has a Hitachi power supply, it also must be recapped. The Sony and Astec supplies fail less often, and the analog boards are also typically reliable.
