The Macintosh SE was introduced in 1987 as the first Compact Mac with an internal expansion slot, and the first Compact Mac with an internal hard disk drive option. You could get an SE with either 2 floppy drives or one floppy drive and a hard drive. Later, and FDHD model was introduced which got you either 1 or 2 1.44MB floppy drives instead of the older 800k drives. This model was later renamed to the SE SuperDrive.
You can put up to 4MB of RAM in a Mac SE, installed via groups of 2 30-pin SIMMs.
There are a few options for replacing a hard drive with an SSD. See this page for information on available options.
Multiple rare processor upgrades were made for the Macintosh SE. These allowed you to upgrade your 68000 processor with an 020(verification needed) or an 030.
The Macintosh SE came with the first Apple ADB Keyboard and Mouse. This means that unlike earlier models, you will have a much easier time finding compatible keyboards and mice.
