Macintosh SE/30 Home

The Macintosh SE/30 was introduced in 1989 as the first Compact Mac with a Motorola 68030 Processor.

Macintosh SE/30 Upgrades

RAM Upgrades

You can put up to 128MB of RAM in a Mac SE, installed in 8 30-pin SIMM slots.

How do I get an SSD in it?

There are a few options for replacing a hard drive with an SSD. There's the SCSI-2-SD, which is the fastest (but most expensive) option. There's also the BlueSCSI, which is cheaper but slower. Both are great options though, and are both much faster than a hard drive. There are other options as well, but those are the main two.

Accelerators/Processor Upgrades

Multiple rare processor upgrades were made for the Macintosh SE/30. These allowed you to upgrade your 68030 processor to a 68040! Modern recreations are available for purchase from @Bolle on the 68kMLA forums. They're quite expensive as you would expect, but worth it for those who want to push their SE/30 to the limit.

Expansion cards

Several different PDS cards exist for the SE/30. The two most useful are video and networking cards, although others do exist. Video cards are quite rare and sought after due to how cool running dual monitors on a compact mac is. Networking cards are slightly more common I'd say, but just as useful for getting SE/30s online.
