It is possible to install an LC 575 logic board into a Color Classic, upgrading it with a 68040 processor. This comes along with modifying the analog board to support 640x480 resolution. It is also possible with some modifications to install certain Power Macintosh logic boards.

The Lithium PRAM battery in the Color Classic is very prone to leaking and should be removed.
The Color Classic's logic board uses electrolytic capacitors that always fail and leak. They must be replaced for reliable operation. The analog board also usually needs the same done.
