The WinBook X1 was a 13.3" Ultralight/Subnotebook system, released on or about March 28th, 2001. It used an aluminum alloy case and Pentium III processors. Later, WinBook also released the X2 on or about December 7th, 2001. As far as I can, the X2 was simply a minor revision with faster Tualatin processors and other internal changes, without any external differences.
The WinBook X1/X2 laptops were manufactured by Alpha-Top Corporation, with the X1 being based on their Green500. The X2 was based on the Green510.

The mostly metal construction of these laptops means that they will be less affected by plastic issues than many others. Still, I've seen one on eBay with a busted front bezel (that part is plastic) and broken hinge mounts. I'd assume they likely glued mounts on to the metal rear case.
Mainly shows the J1, but the X1 is visible down near the bottom.
