Veridata was a Taiwan-based Original Design Manufacturer (ODM) that produced laptop computers. Veridata was founded in 1987 and according to their website released their first laptop a year later. Their first laptop that appeared in FCC records was in January 1990, so this first model and probably others must not have been sold in the US.
In 1994, Veridata became a subsidiary of Chuntex Electronic Co, aka CTX International, as CTX wanted to get into the laptop business. From here on, the majority of Veridata laptops were branded and sold as the CTX EzBook line. They did continue selling to other companies during this time though.
CTX went bankrupt in 1999, with the main cause being their desktop and notebook computer divisions. CTX successfully exited bankruptcy, but shut down the Veridata branch as part of them re-centering their business exclusively on monitor production.
