Article: Nan Tan FCC ID to laptop cross-reference
This page links Nan Tan's FCC records to their corresponding laptop models. Because Nan Tan usually did not print the laptop's model number anywhere on the bottom sticker, most people have ended up referring to the laptops by their FCC ID. That being said, their laptops do have real model numbers, which are usually just the digits in the FCC ID after the "FMA" (their grantee code). The real model number for Nan Tan laptops is also usually displayed on the user manual, and on the BIOS POST screen (unless the reseller modified the model string).

E stands for EGA. The label (shown) on the one example I've seen lacks the FCC ID, but this is definitely the same laptop. |

Missing | V stands for VGA. No photo of the label is available at this time, but this is definitely the correct laptop. |

Model name would imply this is a revision of the 2200, but it's based on the 2100 design. |

The 3530 is a revision of the 3500 with unknown changes. So far, I've only seen them with Vobis branding. You can visually tell them apart from a 3500 by the label above the keyboard, which says "486DX2" instead of "486DX". |

This is the only 5500 Series laptop I've seen show up so far. There were two design revisions, but I don't know which FCC IDs correspond to which version. |

| FMA3500C | 1992/12/22 | Notebook 3500C | ![]() |
Missing | Revision of the 3500 chassis which supports color screens. I don't know for sure if all 3500Cs were color? |
| FMA3530C | 1992/12/22 | Unknown | Missing | Missing | Likely just a 3530 (with whatever changes it has compared to a 3500) with the same modified design as the 3500C. Haven't seen one yet so I can't confirm this. |

Missing | Presumably this is just the designation for a Kapok 8200 with a grayscale LCD. |
| FMA6530C | 1993/06/17 | Notebook 6530C | ![]() |
Missing | Revision of the 6500 with unknown changes. Photo shown is confirmed to be a 6530 rather than a 6500, but there were no photos of the label. |
| FMA6530M | 1993/06/17 | Unknown | Missing | Missing | Presumably just a 6530 with a grayscale display. |
| FMAK9200M | 1994/02/22 | Kapok 9200 Series | Missing | Missing | This is some version of the Kapok 9200. ID implies it's just the grayscale version of the FMAK9200C, but why are the dates so far apart? |
| FMA7500AC | 1994/03/11 | Notebook 7500AC | ![]() |

7500A is the main designation for this model, I believe the C just means this is the version with a color screen. The laptop that the label in the photo was attached to was an active matrix color unit. I have also seen a 7500AC which had a passive matrix screen (two sliders) but there were no photos of it powered on, so I do not know if it was color or grayscale. |
| FMAP9200C | 1994/03/14 | Unknown | Missing | Missing | Likely some version of the Kapok 9200? I don't know what the P indicates. K stands for Kapok. |

A surprisingly late revision of the 3500 design. Based on the 3500C chassis. Strangely, while I've seen multiple laptops which ID in the BIOS as a 3500A show up for sale, they've all had the original FMA3500 FCC ID. So far though, these have all been in Europe. |
| FMAK9400M | 1994/07/06 | Unknown | Missing | Missing | This is probably the FCC ID for the Kapok 9400, which is identical internally to the 9200 but has a different case design. I still haven't seen a 9400 in the wild which showed a photo of the label to confirm this though. |
| FMAK9420 | 1994/08/15 | Unknown | Missing | Missing | Some sort of revision on the 9400/9200 (probably). |
| FMAK9400C | 1994/09/02 | Unknown | Missing | Missing | Color version of the 9400 (see 9400M above). |

Pentium version of the 7500. |
| FMA6500E | 1994/10/27 | Notebook 6500E | ![]() |
Missing | Revision of the 6500 with unknown changes. The one example seen so far had a Cyrix DX2-66 CPU, used the micro-din power connector instead of the Kycon 4-pin, and had some very minor design differences. The listing had no photo of the label, but the BIOS POST says "Notebook 6500EM" (M meaning monochrome) |

Appears to be a generic version of the Vobis HIGHSCREEN Colani BlueNote II. This example was listed for sale in Australia and did not have the FCC ID printed, but it's pretty darn likely that this FCC ID was intended to be for this laptop. The BlueNote II itself seems to be designated as the "7500E", based on labels on the motherboard. There is no FCC ID for a 7500E. |
| FMA8500 | 1995/03/30 | Notebook 8500 | ![]() |
Missing | I still haven't seen an 8500 for sale, so I don't have a photo of the label. This is defintely the right laptop though. |

This seems to be the FCC ID for the "standard" Kapok 9200 with a color screen. |
