Common Faults & Maintenance

RAM slot failure

The T30 suffers from poor soldering on the RAM slot connections. This can cause some to break, leading to RAM slot failure. The lower slot will usually fail first. If both slots fail, the laptop will not start. If you are experiencing this issue, a reflow of the slots can fix it.

GPU Failure

This is less common than RAM slot failure, but still happens. The GPU (which isn't cooled at all, not even by a heatsink) can sometimes fail, either due to the chip itself going bad, or by the BGA solder failing.
