IBM ThinkPad Power Series 850

The ThinkPad Power Series 850 is a PowerPC 603-based laptop that was released in July 1995. It shared the same case design as the developer-only Power Series 800 from 1994, but unlike the 800, the 850 was a full public release.

Released alongside the Power Series 820, the 850 was IBM's top-of-the-line RISC portable. It boasted features including a CD-ROM Drive, Motion Video graphics, Video Capture, SCSI-2, and even an optional CCD camera module (pictured).

The 850 shipped with either the PowerPC version of Windows NT, IBM's AIX operating system, or none at all. As you may imagine, these were expensive portables. The starting price was $6,699, and top-end configurations reached $9,849.
