IBM ThinkPad 570 and 570E

The ThinkPad 570 and 570E are subnotebooks that were released in April 1999 and February 2000 respectively. They were the final models in the ThinkPad 500 Series, as they were replaced with the ThinkPad X Series, starting with the ThinkPad X20.

Common Faults & Maintenance

Hinge Failure

The 570's hinges are a very weak design and wear out very easily, going completely floppy. This is not a plastic-based failure and requires replacement of the hinges themselves when the failure occurs.
