The ThinkPad 535 Series were Pentium-based subnotebooks that were initially released in 1996 and sold through 1998. There were three models in the series - the 535, 535E, and 535X. These ThinkPads were exclusive to Japan.

The 535 and 535E have a Varta NiMH battery inside that is extremely prone to leaking. Remove it ASAP from any one of these that you have. The 535X does not have this battery inside.
The LCD on any of the models in this series are prone to developing Vinegar Syndrome, especially so since these were only sold in Japan.
