IBM ThinkPad 330C/330CS

IBM ThinkPad 330C/330CS

IBM Type 5523

The ThinkPad 330C and 330CS were a pair of Japan-exclusive ThinkPads that were probably released in 1993 or 1994. They are notable for being a gray color, rather than the usual ThinkPad black. The main difference between the 330C and 330CS is that the C has an Active Matrix display, and the 330CS has a Passive Matrix one.

These models have no TrackPoint.

Common Faults & Maintenance

The internal PSU module for the 330C/CS suffers from leaking electrolytic capacitors and must be recapped for reliable operation. Beyond this, I don't know what else fails in these.
