Gateway2000 ColorBook2

Gateway2000 ColorBook2

The Gateway2000 ColorBook2 is a 486-based laptop that was released in 1995 as the successor to the original ColorBook. It introduced faster processor options in the form of the DX4-100, added an ESS sound card, and replaced the pop-out trackball with a TrackPoint. It still did not have an active matrix display option available.

The ColorBook2 was manufactured for Gateway by Sotec.

The ColorBook2 used a proprietary 3-pin power connector, so if you are buying one today, make sure you can find a charger available elsewhere if it's not included. The ColorBook and ColorBook2 use nearly the same connector, but they are keyed differently and they don't use the same charger.
