The Dual SKD-4000 is a 486-based generic/ODM laptop that was released around June 1993. The SKD-4000 has a very modular design. The top right of the system has an expansion bay that could fit several modules, a trackball being the most common.

This laptop was sold under many names, but Dual Technology Corporation is the original manufacturer.

There were many hardware revisions of this laptop. This page covers the first, aka the "SKD-4000 I" or "SKD 1". The SKD-4000 II (aka SKD 2) was mostly identical but added local bus video. The SKD-4000 III (aka SKD 3) added sound hardware along with other changes. There were more revisions after this too, but I'm lacking info on them. They are listed on the Dual homepage though.

"SKD" stands for System Knock Down.
