Common Faults & Maintenance

Brittle Plastic

The plastic on the CP is insanely brittle. On models with the 13.3" display, this leads to the plastic cracking around the hinge mounts, causing the case to split into pieces eventually. The 12.1" models seem less prone to this but it can still happen.

CMOS Battery Leaks

The Varta CMOS battery used by the CP leaks nearly 100% of the time. It is located under the keyboard and should be removed on any Latitude CP to prevent damage.
