Introduction

By offering a varied selection of high quality, state-of-the-art products including high-end monitors, notebook computers, desktop PCs, liquid crystal display (LCD) monitors and projection panels, CTX International has become a leading supplier in the computer industry. Its philosophy of high quality, reasonably priced products and solution-oriented service has met with great success. Since its creation in 1986, CTX has recorded 40 percent growth per year. Shipments have grown to more than 1,000,000 monitors per year - a growth rate unsurpassed in the monitor industry. CTX monitors now account for seven percent of the overall color monitor market in North America.

History

CTX International was founded to supply the North American market with products from its parent company, Chuntex Electronics, one of the largest monitor manufacturers in Taiwan. At that time, the company offered monochrome and lower resolution color monitors and became the first supplier of VGA monitors. During the past ten years, CTX has added larger and higher resolution color monitors to its line.

In 1991, CTX surpassed many competitive monitor suppliers by attaining $56 million in sales, a 167% gain over the previous year. Since that time, the company's growth rate has averaged 134% annually.

In 1992, environmental issues have become a major concern of technology companies. To address these concerns, CTX has broadened its product offering to include "green" monitors that exceeded U.S. Environmental Protection Agency EnergyStar(tm) standards. CTX has also introduced a family of liquid crystal display (LCD) products including a complete line of LCD monitors and LCD projection products. These products emit no radiation and have considerable space and weight advantages over their conventional counterparts.

With a commanding presence in the monitor market, CTX took advantage of its excellent reputation and brand name recognition by forging into the burgeoning laptop computer market in 1994. Today the company continues its quest to become a dominant player in this expanding market with a recent introduction of a complete line of Pentium notebooks to meet the needs of a variety of users.

Product Distribution

CTX products are currently sold through a national and regional network of distributors, VARs, systems integrators, superstores and retailers. The company's sales offices are located in Los Angeles, New York, Chicago and Atlanta. These centers support the marketing/sales network of authorized distributors across the continent and form the core of CTX' service network with a full staff of trained field engineers.

Market Overview

Before the introduction of VGA high-resolution monitors in 1987, complex graphic applications were rare because displays could not present the necessary level of detail. Once VGA monitors became commercially available, software designers started creating increasingly sophisticated graphics programs for desktop publishing, computer aided design and engineering, as well as graphical user interfaces to facilitate everyday computing. From the start, CTX designed its products for users who wanted high resolution color products that could display sophisticated software applications.

Demand for the company's monitors has grown along with the popularity of these applications. As the need for higher resolution and larger screens became apparent, CTX responded with monitor screen choices as large as 21 inches, improved resolution capabilities up to 1600 x 1200, and flat square screens for crisp graphics even at the edges and corners. These monitors are targeted at professional users who use graphics-intensive applications.

CTX designs also incorporate ergonomic features and adhere to strict MPR II standards (for low radiation emissions) and the Environmental Protection Agency Energy Star guidelines (to save energy by cutting power consumption to less that 30 watts when the unit is not in use). The new generation of CTX monitors also meet more stringent TCO emissions standards.

Design and Manufacturing

A team of 80 research and development engineers turn well-conceived ideas into reality in Chuntex Electronics plants in Asia. The company's manufacturing capacity is in excess of 300,000 monitors a month. At these fully automated facilities, advanced production methods are coupled with vigilant quality control measures. Each and every manufacturing operation is followed by an inspection or test to assure its satisfactory completion.

Chuntex' manufacturing plants have been ISO-9002 certified, the highest quality control standard established by the International Standards Organization.

Thirteen hundred highly trained factory personnel in Taiwan and Thailand, and about 1200 more at its other plants around the world are committed to producing the highest quality products. In North America, the company has earned a solid reputation for technical support and is known for its responsiveness and quick turnaround time.
