FAQ
Why do some laptops show up in search results that don't match what I searched for?
Any laptop can have different "aliases" assigned to it - for example, the WinBook X4 has the model number "GREEN550" printed on the bottom of it. This is because it is a rebadged ECS GREEN550. Since it's printed on the laptop, some people may try to find it in the database by searching for "GREEN550" instead of "X4", so it has "GREEN550" assigned as one of its aliases. The side effect of this is that if you have a GREEN550 without WinBook branding, the WinBook X4 will also show in search results, which may be confusing.
Why are my search results only sometimes in alphabetical order?
This is a known problem with the search engine and will be fixed in the future.
Why is my laptop not showing up in the database?
Most likely, it has just not been added to the database yet. MacDat's Laptop Portal is a very large project that is very much still unfinished. For instance, there is no documentation on any HP laptops up yet. There is however a chance that your laptop is in the database, but under a different name then what you searched for. To verify this, do an All Brands search for your laptop's brand, and then see if you can find it. If you can find it there, and you think the term you searched for should return that laptop, send me an email and I'll see if a new alias needs to be added for that laptop.
I found a specification in the database that I think is incorrect. How can I let you know?
If you've found incorrect information (or an additional feature option that isn't listed), please send me an email and I'll fix/add it.
My laptop isn't in the database and I'd like to help you document it.
See this page. Note that if your laptop isn't from a brand currently covered by the database, I will likely wait to add its specs until I begin fully documenting that brand. I could still definitely use the info regardless though!
